Technical prodcuction and local AR-concept blekksprut1 (Norge)

“The work explores how we collaborate remotely to create a virtual work of art in a physical space. Inspiration is drawn from Diwali, the Hindu festival of light that coincides with the new moon. The artwork can be experienced virtually around the temple” (Statement from artists)

Using mobilephones and headphones, this art piece allowed the audience to enter an extended lightfestival univers, using augmented reality (AR) technology and sound.

In this audio-visual AR-light trail, the audience explored and discovered various elements moving around the temple.

Sanatan Mandir /Hinduismen and Factory light festival have a lot in common, amongst others they are very inclusive – all are welcome. People from any culture, religion, social background, age, gender etc is welcome. the Hindu God Ganesha, represent the value of everyone being equally important.
The artist has included this inclusive and warm perspective in the element they hava called “the welcome mat”

Both factory light festival and Diwali (Hindu light festival), celebrates light and are all about sharing good experiences. Diwali is a celebration of light over darkness. Diwali means “row of light”. We encourage the audience to count how many ights the artists had included in the AR-experience.

On the AR-light train, the audience can find an element inspired by the ned moon. Time for Diwali is estimated from the moon cycle. It is always a new moon during Diwali. The artist was inspired by the various formulas in Hinduism, especially connected with the moon.

Alexander Salvesen (Finland)

Alexander Salvensen (b1990) is a Helsinki based artist who primarily works with light in different forms, either through usage of pigments or by working with light itself. In his works he likes to emphasize colour, space and shape, and especially their relations to each other and to the viewer. He is interested in the manipulation of our perception and likes to, through his works, inspire the viewer’s mind to reflect on their own senses and suggest a moment of serenity by just being present in the moment. Salvesen finds inspiration outside in the nature and from its yearly phenomena, but also in present political and socio economic situations and the ongoing climate crisis. In the performing arts, Salvesen mainly concentrates on lighting design for contemporary dance, performance art and theatre.
